A Sunrise Casserole

A Delicious Beginning

Growing up in the Midwest, casseroles were a staple in our diet. Whether they were crafted from a favorite recipe or included whatever meat and vegetables happened to be in the refrigerator, there was a lot “going on” in one yummy dish!

So, when looking at all of sunrise colors in this photograph, it was the first memory that came to mind. Thus, its name is Sunrise Casserole. It is another complete photo lots of colors, textures, and cloud formations pushing the sun in many directions. And the symmetry draws the eye to the center in perfect harmony, balancing all ingredients into a “delicious” finale that mimics the vibrancy of multiple layers of sunrise colors. So this leads me to my next tip for photographing a sunrise.

Photography Tip #4

Find balance in your scene before taking pictures. As humans, it gives us great comfort when we believe everything is in balance. A sunrise is one of those events where we want to be mesmerized yet feel a sense of peace simultaneously. It helps bring clarity and purpose to the day. And when we find the balance, it puts everything in the proper perspective.

As evidenced in the Sunrise Casserole, a lot happens in one spectacular moment. But the center of the photograph is the focal point, with all other elements radiating from there. Perfect balance made possible with a cup each of water, clouds, color, a dose of patience, and a strong cup of coffee, all contributing to the beautiful Sunrise Colors!

Quote of the Day

Sunrise – you can watch it, you can breathe it, you hear it, you can touch it, you can taste it, and you can feel it.” Louis de Port This quote perfectly encapsulates the essence and magnificence of Sunrise Colors.
