The Favorite, Favorites

The Favorite, Favorites

Choosing the Favorite, Favorites

Recently, I have been going through all of my photos. Spending hours organizing, deleting duplicates, and attempting to prioritize my favorite, favorites. No easy task to be sure.

So all you photographers out there will understand me when I share how challenging it can be to decide what photos to keep, delete and which ones to share. Out of thousands, how does one decide? Well, some days, like today, I let the photos guide me! Perhaps it is my mood, the weather, or life’s current circumstances that influence the decision. But whatever the reason, when I look through the litany of options there will be some that stand out from the rest, if only for that day.

Remembering Every Detail

But as I make the decision, there are certainly those photos that guide me and speak to my heart. When I look at them, I can remember every detail of that moment. And most importantly the rush of emotions I felt when everything just seemed to come together perfectly. Sometimes because of careful planning and research, and sometimes because of luck.

So over the next few days, I’d like to share a group of my favorite, favorites, and hope they too will specially touch you.

A Photo’s Story

Brown Pelican Up Close

My husband and I decided to take a day trip to Cedar Key, Florida to have lunch at a favorite restaurant, Steamers. I LOVE fried oysters, so any chance we had to go there I was always ready. After lunch, we were walking along the pier and this stunning Brown Pelican was resting along the ledge.

Because of frequent human presence, it was unaffected by mine, so I was able to get close for the shot. It was as though he was posing! What I love about this photo is how beautifully the blue ocean is the perfect color palette to accentuate the pelican’s eyes and subtleties of his brown feathers. A favorite, favorite!

A Gathering at Lunchtime

Once again at Cedar Key, Florida, this was one of the first photos I took with my new camera. I was so nervous about making sure the settings were just right. Once I saw the finished product that nervousness turned to elation, and from that day forward I knew I had found my passion.

Now It’s Your Turn

How do you decide which photos to share?

The photos are fantastic on their own but reading the story behind them makes them even more special. Thank you!

As you said, choosing favourite, favourites is almost impossible. I decided recently I’d like to print a set on small canvas, for us and possibly to put on the market but the reality???? Wow is it difficult? As gor regular sharing? I try to choose, check, edit and share, sometimes long after the first cull and even then, some don’t make it. I struggle choosing when I have a lot of similar shots. 🤔🤯😳

Always a challenge for sure. I guess the good news is we have a lot to choose from 😊. My husband thinks similar means exactly the same. But we know better 😉
