Fond Memories
As a photographer, I’m always looking for beautiful blooms. Magnolias are some of my favorite subjects to capture. It is not unusual for me to spend hours at a local nursery walking around and taking pictures. Or with camera in hand, strolling throughout the neighborhood capturing the beauty of wildflowers. My love of flowers started many years ago.
Growing up in rural Indiana, my mom always had beautiful flower gardens. And I used to love to spend time with her tending them in the summer. Those are some of my fondest memories as a child. So it is no surprise that my passion for flowers continues even today, and prompts me to choose them as some of my favorite, favorites all in white! Among these flowers, Magnolias always stand out to me.
Once again letting the photos guide me, I have rediscovered some incredible magnolia blooms that are so perfect they must be shared.
A Photo’s Story
Petite Perfection
A few years ago, we lived near a local nursery, Palmers Garden and Goods. They always had the most beautiful flowers in stock in a setting that beckoned you to take a stroll. It was such a relaxing experience that I quickly became a loyal customer and frequent visitor. And they always welcomed me and encouraged photography to highlight their wares. I loved it! So in a tribute to their endulgance, the featured photo, photo number one and number four first were taken during one such excursion and feature some dwarf magnolias.
In Full Bloom
In our previous neighborhood, there were huge magnolia trees scattered throughout. Some reach well over 20 feet tall. So when the buds appeared, it was an exciting time because I knew the full blooms couldn’t be far behind. Photos number two and three take a much deeper look inside these magnificent blooms. As beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside is just another reason why the magnolia flower is sheer perfection, thus becoming a favorite, favorite. The grandeur of magnolias in full bloom is truly captivating.
