A New Sunrise Collection
The cloud formations will take center stage in this collection of sunrise photos. In each image, you’ll discover how they and their “Leading Lines” draw your eye to a distinct focal point. It is as if they are telling you to join them on their journey to appreciate the morning’s beauty.
Arrows
The first photo is a personal favorite I’ve entitled “Leading Lines—Arrows.” The unusual shape of the clouds reminds me of the feathers on the quill of an arrow. I love how the image highlights the beautiful shades of blue. And including just the right amount of contrast from the black horizon and hint of gold from the sun, the photo is complete. With the help of nature’s mirror, each photo is unique, complex, and filled with just the right amount of color and balance to satisfy the viewer.
A Fascinating History
Captured at Lake Baldwin in Orlando, Florida, this mixed-used community is the most sought-after neighborhood in the city. Surrounded by a natural buffer and walking path, the lake remains pristine. It is a popular destination for runners, walkers, fishermen, sailboat enthusiasts, and abundant wildlife.
The community has quite a fascinating history that goes back to World War II. From then until the 1990s, the area was used for military purposes. The property and several adjacent properties housed the Orlando Army Air Station. In the early 1960s, the Air Station closed its doors. The remaining property was turned over to the Navy for use as the country’s third Naval Training Center. Over the next three decades, NTC Orlando served as the training site for over 650,000 Navy recruits. The Main Base property was home to three major commands: the Recruit Training Command, the Service School Command, and the Nuclear Power School.
In July 1993, the Federal Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) identified NTC for closure. Subsequently, the City of Orlando initiated the development of the Base Reuse Plan to guide the transition of base property and facilities to other uses in support of local goals for economic and community development.
