As Florida residents for over 30 years, my family and I are far too familiar with the fury that nature can bring to our shores. After the devastation left by Hurricane Helene in our state and many others, we await yet another onslaught from Hurricane Milton.
Out of respect to those who have suffered so much, I have chosen to pause my blog to ask for your help.
How You Can Help
If you are moved to help those in need, below is list of links to various organizations that are providing assistance.
- American Red Cross
- Catholic Charities
- North Shore Animal League – They are a no kill animal shelter that partners w/local rescues in areas affected by the storms to rescue, provide shelter and much needed food and medicines to animals in need.
- Best Friends Animal Society – Animal rescue that works in partnership w/local rescuers in areas affected by storms. They also assemble and send in emergency response teams to help get animals to safety, provide shelter, food and medicine.
- World Central Kitchen – A not for profit organization that has people in affected areas delivering food and water and preparing meals for those affected by the storms.
You may know of others. If so, please feel free to send links to their websites in the comments and I will be happy to update this list to include them.
We are strong, but we are stronger together. Thank you for your consideration and compassion in helping our neighbors in need.
