After an emotional and reflective visit to the Gettysburg National Cemetery, our next destination continued a trip back in time to Fredericksburg, Virginia and the Richard Johnston Inn and 1890 Caroline House.
This stunning bed and breakfast is located in the heart of the historic district, and just steps away from a plethora of local restaurants and boutiques. A stroll down the street also takes you past some lovingly and beautifully restored colonial homes that reflect the city’s significance in our nation’s history.
Directly across the street from the inn is the gorgeous Old Mill Park with steps leading down to the Rappahannock River. The perfect place to enjoy a sunrise and morning cup of coffee.
The inn itself is incredible and very lovingly restored. The rear courtyard provides ample opportunities to enjoy a glass of wine just outside your room, while discovering the personal touches throughout the property that make it so welcoming.
Once again our room was immaculate and quite beautiful. Entitled the Kitchen Room, it had many features original to the property, including brick floors covered with a soft, plush area rug, wood ceiling beams and fireplace filled with beautiful decor that helped make it the centerpiece of the room. If you closed your eyes, it was not hard to imagine a meal being prepared at that exact location. And there was even a bottle of bourbon open for us to enjoy a taste as we got settled.
All of these amenities and the warm welcome we received at our arrival made this a very special and perfect destination as we continued Road Trip 2022.
And so it continues…until our next stop!
