A Questionable Choice?
At first glimpse, you might question why this would be a personal favorite. There’s almost no color, although the red roof of the gazebo draws your eye into the photograph. But what I love about it is the quiet tranquility it evokes. There is a sunrise in there somewhere, but you have to use your imagination a bit. So its namesake “Through a Foggy Shroud” becomes apparent.
Tranquility Personified
Because it was a very foggy morning, there was almost no sound from nature or humans. So much so that I didn’t dare speak above a whisper so as not to break the silence. Lastly, the ripples in the water somewhat disturb the peacefulness, but in such a gentle, perfect way, they only add to the overall effect. The foggy sunrise added an ethereal quality to the scene.
Personal Preference
On mornings such as these, rolling over in bed and hitting the snooze button to catch a few more precious minutes of sleep is pretty tempting. However, as is evidenced in this photo, even a day such as this can yield an incredible photographic moment. That’s why I choose to leave my phone on silent, tucked away with my gear. It is moments like these during a foggy sunrise that make it all worthwhile. As the world awakens to another day, so too does the wildlife. And having minimal distractions for you and them means you won’t miss those precious opportunities to capture it with your camera.
Quote of the Day
“Every sunrise begins with new eyes.” Richie Norton Embrace the beauty of a foggy sunrise and start your day with wonder.
