Today, we’re traveling away from the city to discover one of the “Wonders Outside of Paris. The stunning city of Orleans’ is famed for its heroine, Saint Joan of Arc. She led the French to victory over the English and saved the city from their rule. Tributes are found throughout, including a magnificent sculpture in the town square.
A much slower pace that Paris, Orleans’ is a wonderful place (and just a short train ride away) to relax, rejuvenate and appreciate its rich and storied history. The carousel in the center of town was filled with children enjoying the beautiful day, as were the surrounding cafes. Even the four-legged residents were taking advantage of the weather!
We only spent a day here, but it was one we won’t soon forget. There is so much to see, that I’ll be sharing it in three parts. So stay tuned as we continue our journey into the incredible cathedral and a city hall that would make any municipality envious!
