Proclaimed as one of the most beautiful drives in the world, Going to the Sun road in Glacier National Park definitely lives up to the hype. Unfortunately it wasn’t a sunny day when we were there, so some of its majesty was shrouded in clouds. But as we drove along the winding road, the magnificence of this national treasure still emerged. And the clouds provided a unique “Northwest Encounter” by deafening most sounds except that of the rivers and waterfalls. WOW!
We started our day with a hike among the clouds and snow. Slippery steps, cold temperatures and an all engulfing fog made for quite the adventure. However, at the base of the trail a spring renewal was taking place as evidenced by the gorgeous yellow blooms peeking through the ice and snow in the photo above.
Another to do item that should be on everyone’s list, this stunning park will leave you speechless with its wild and unmarred landscape.

*Note – If you are planning a trip there, know that you must have a timed entry reservation (which gets booked very quickly) during peak season, and the road typically doesn’t open until June-July. Be sure to check their website for details.
